"...What?"

"Tomorrow, I'll be leaving for a while," he repeated. You just stood there, your eyes widened and your mouth opened as you stared at Honda Kiku, the personification of Japan and your boyfriend for two years.

"Are you serious? Why and where are you going? When will you return?" you kept on asking him questions. Who will be there when something bad happens to him? Where will he go? When he says he'll leave for a bit, you can't help but be concerned. You'll never know if he'll return safe and sound, what if he died?

"はい, I'm serious. I'm just going to leave for a while because Japan is currently at war. I'm not sure when, but I promise I'll come back," he stated, reassuring you with a genuine smile.

"I have a bad feeling about this, Kiku..." frowning, you sat next to him. Deep in the pit of your stomach, you have this feeling that something really bad will happen.

"Please, trust me. I'll return and I'll be with you again," he tried to convince you again.

"Alright, I'll believe in you since I love you and I know you wouldn't lie to me," you said while you gently rest your head on his shoulder. He let you do so since he's already used to your affectionate actions.

"Kiku!" you attempted to catch his attention by shouting his name. Today's the day. Kiku is already preparing his items for the war. Of course, you offered to help him as well.

"何?" he turned around as he heard you call his name out loud.

"You almost forgot to bring this with you!" you playfully frowned, giving him your heart shaped necklace.

"Always wear this, so you can remember that I'm waiting for you," you said as he took the necklace, wearing it while smiling at you.

"どうもありがとうございます, (Name)-chan," finally wearing the necklace, he wrapped you in his arms. You returned the hug, feeling his hands rub your back. Crying, you embraced him tighter.


"Did she hear the news about him? I'm pretty sure she didn't suspect anything..."

Smiling a very bright smile, you hugged him without any doubt. Letting him go, you held his hand as the two of you walked together with cherry blossoms surrounding you.

It should've been like that if he stayed and never left because of a war. And now, you're stuck here, waiting for him to return without knowing when he will and if he still will.

But it already happened. He already left, he never told you when he'll return. And now, the only thing that you can do is wait patiently until he comes back.
